SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 24, 2017 at 2:30 PM; FREEPORT MEMORIAL LIBRARY, L.I./ BELLE SYLVESTER MEMORIAL RECITAL SERIES

Opera legend,  Leontyne Price was one of the first African Americans to become a leading artist at the Metropolitan Opera. The Belle Sylvester Memorial Recital Series opener will pay homage to Ms. Price as a Verdian soprano, focusing on her roles in operas in Aida, Il trovatore, and La forza del destino, and will feature a historical narrative intertwined with Verdi's music performed and narrated by Cheryl Warfield, accompanied by pianist Mark Cogley.
